The Lady Dogs suffered a second half collapse against the Lady Vols to fall 73-43. The occasion was of course an historic one for UT coach Pat Summitt.
The victory was the 1,000th of Pat Summitt’s career and came before a crowd of 16,058 at Thompson-Boling Arena.
“I’d rather not talk about the game itself,” Andy Landers said. “I’m irritated right now. However, this was a historic achievement for Coach Summitt and the University of Tennessee. The thing that is most impressive is the consistency with which they competed over the past 35 years. They’ve done this over a very long period of time.”
Coach Landers handled the moment with class. Too bad UT couldn’t have gotten it done in Norman the other night.

The Lady Dogs dealt No. 5 Auburn their first defeat of the season tonight 67-58.
Angel Robinson scored 17 points to help Georgia beat No. 5 Auburn 67-58 Thursday night, handing the Tigers their first loss of the season.
Christy Marshall had 15 points and Angela Puleo added 10 as Georgia (14-7, 4-2 Southeastern Conference) won its third straight, including consecutive games against a Top 25 team. The Bulldogs beat then-No. 17 Vanderbilt last week.
Congratulations to Andy Landers and the surging Lady Dogs.
They closed the night by striking a positive note for University of Georgia athletics on an extremely difficult day.
